Nissan South Africa is set to further expand the current Livina range with the addition of the new, sporty Livina X-Gear. It may appeal to youthful and adventurous South Africans looking for a vehicle to partner them in their outdoor pursuits.
“The Livina X-Gear takes the helm as the flagship Livina model,” says Nathalie Lopez-Ruiz, Nissan Livina Product Manager. “The X-Gear is the Livina sibling with a few rebellious tendencies as is evident from its athletic and active exterior styling cues.”
The Livina X-Gear boasts strong SUV styling elements and sets its self apart from the rest of the Livina range with its robust roof rails and matt black over fenders, door guard finishers and side sill protectors. The Livina X-Gear also features a redesigned radiator grille and front bumper that exude a more aggressive stance as does the enhanced rear bumper. To complete the overall adventurous appeal the Livina X-Gear comes fitted with a set of stylish 15” alloy wheels.
Complementing the adventurous exterior design of the vehicle is an eager 1.6-litre petrol engine that produces 80kW of power at 6 000rpm and offers ample torque with 153Nm of torque at 4 400rpm. The Livina X-Gear’s engine is both light and quiet resulting in reduced noise, vibration and harshness. Healthy engine performance is achieved through a good spread of torque throughout the rev range while at the same time impressive fuel economy (7.2l/100km) and clean emissions (165g/km) are achieved through a straight exhaust system.
Partnered with a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox the Livina X-Gear reaches a top speed of 180km/h.
The Livina’s interior focuses on functional design for an active lifestyle. Chrome accents as well as black finishes and upholstery further enhance the sporty appeal of the Livina X-Gear. The rear seats split 60/40 and the front passenger seat can be tilted to transport lengthy items such as surf boards, wake boards or skis of up to 2.40m long. Additional storage compartments and cup holders for every occupant make the Livina X-Gear the perfect vehicle for those with an active lifestyle.
The Livina X-Gear is fitted with electric windows and air conditioning while the Acenta+ is further enhanced by the addition of body colour door mirrors and an in-dash radio 6 CD front loading audio system.
Driver airbags come standard on both the Livina X-Gear derivatives while the Acenta+ model also has a passenger airbag. Other safety features include a high mounted stop lamp and front seat belt pretensioners on both models. The Acenta+ comes standard with ABS brakes, Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist.
A carefully designed suspension system with high body rigidity has resulted in impressive handling. The suspension system features struts in front and an H-shaped torsion beam layout at the rear with internal rebound springs and ripple-control shock absorbers, providing superior handling and stability at all speeds on any type of surface.
“The Livina plays a very important role in the Nissan passenger line-up,” continues Lopez-Ruiz. “With the addition of the Livina X-Gear we are able to further expand our reach in the B segment and offer customers three Livina alternatives (namely the Livina, Grand Livina and Livina X-Gear) that are each unique in their application and offer stylish and versatile space alongside good performance at a competitive price.”
The Livina X-Gear is packaged as a value for money proposition, achieving a combined cycle fuel consumption figure of 7.2 litres/100kms. All models come standard with Nissan’s anti-theft security system (NATS), including remote keyless entry, immobiliser and panic alarm. Moreover, all models benefit from Nissan’s decision to introduce the Microdot security feature across the Nissan product range. Service intervals are every 15 000km, with a 3 year / 60,000km service plans included in the price as well as a 3 year / 100 000km warranty.
