Cape Crating - History

The Cape Crating business was started after Sean’s neighbour, Owen, mentioned that there was an opportunity to start making crates for the freight industry. The business was started as a part-time venture in their garage and marketing was purely knocking on doors and asking for work.

After a year (by Aug ‘96) Owen and Sean decided to do this full time. The Cape Crating company moved to a low-cost premises in Salt River, but within the first year they mechanized their operations to be less dependent on labour. After closely examining their Cape Crating business and the industry, the owners decided that they were going to differentiate themselves from other companies by delivering the highest quality of crates and service on the market.
