WHEN times are tight in the truck industry, as they are at present, dynamic companies like Hino Parow don’t let the grass grow under their feet. Sales may be down, says dealer principal Wouter Nel, but the company, which is part of the Imperial Group, uses any spare time to fine-tune the service it offers its customers.

What does he carry? Fluids or solids? What areas does he work, what distances does he travel and over what standards of roads? All these and other details are factored into Hino Parow’s calculations, and the Hino truck the customer buys will meet his specific needs.
“To do this, Hino Parow has state of the art technology in house to plan vehicles to suit customers specific needs. The company makes use of the best body builders in Cape Town, who have been specially vetted. Hino Parow supplies the chassis/cab, and the body builders build the load box.”

“After sales service is a vital part of our service and therefore spare parts are a crucial part of our business. Hino Parow maintains a full range of genuine Hino parts, currently the widest range in the Western Cape.”
“If by any chance they don’t have a particular part in stock, they will have it for you the next day, overnight from Johannesburg. All of this is supervised by Wayne Coetzee, who mentions that the company provides a free parts delivery service anywhere in the Cape Peninsula.”
“Our service department, of course, plays a vital role. Whether it’s a brand new truck or one which has seen some service, it needs regular attention. And in the present downturn, many transport operators, delaying as long as they can the cost of replacing vehicles, are making their existing fleets put in considerable extra mileage. Walter Stone, one of Hino’s senior technicians, has won the company’s national yearly Skills Competition several times - an indication of the high standards of workmanship at Hino Parow.
The service department operates throughout the week, and also on Saturdays by prior arrangement, and there is a 24/7 standby call out service.
