MANUFACTURING: Anchor Helps Replace Reactor
Recent Western Cape Business News
Cape Town-based Anchor Industries, supplier of lifting and rigging as well as marine and offshore mooring equipment in Southern Africa, recently supplied cable laid slings for a heavy lift application for Sasol the the value of R1m.
The uniqueness of the project was due to the weight of the reactor. Anchor Industries supplied the slings weighing 4 315kgs to lift the reactor. The fact that Sasol’s Johannesburg plant operations had to be offline until the reactor was replaced added a particular urgency to the project.
The project included air freighting two cable laid grommet slings that are 174mm in diameter with a minimum break load of 2 754mt from Holland to South Africa. “Transporting the slings from Europe to the project site within a deadline of two weeks was a challenge but we managed to complete the project in good time thus keeping our promise of a short turn around time,” says Dale Hutcheson, Managing Director of Anchor Industries.
The project was completed in accordance with the international standard EN13414-3 as required by the industry.
“A project of this magnitude requires highly skilled and professionally trained staff to provide a service of the highest industry standard as expected by an industry leader such as Sasol. Anchor Industries has successfully delivered a service and product meeting the expectations of the client and exceeding the quality and efficiency of our closest competitor,” says Hutcheson.
