Recent Western Cape Business News

Another blue chip international professional services firm is relocating to Century City and has signed for an entire 6200 square metre office block which forms part of the prestigious R750million Crystal Tower development currently under construction.

Crystal Towers, the largest development to be undertaken at Century City since the Canal Walk shopping centre in 2000, also comprises 91 luxury apartments, restaurants and a five star, 180 room hotel.

The entire Crystal Towers development, which will include two tower blocks as well as the standalone office block, is set over a two level podium comprising parking and canal-fronting hotel banqueting facilities flowing out over the water. The rest of the hotel will be housed in one of the nine storey tower blocks offering spectacular sea and mountain views from the upper storeys.

Aimed primarily at the high end business traveller, the hotel will offer extensive conference and meeting rooms, a state of at the art business centre, fine dining restaurants, swimming pools, a gym and a health spa.

The hotel, which will fall under the exclusive African Pride collection which includes among others Melrose Arch hotel, is due to open on December 1 this year.

An internal street with restaurants spilling out into the walkway will run through the spine of the development and feed into the lobbies of both the hotel and residential towers, the latter of which will also include a number of office suites on the lower floors.

Greg Deans, a director of developers Rabie Property Group, said international audit firm, Mazars Moores Rowland, had taken a long lease on the six storey, stand alone office building which is being developed on a landmark site with visibility from Century Boulevard, the main thoroughfare through Century City. The building is due for completion at the end of this year with fit-out commencing early January 2010 for occupation in April 2010.

The triple A-grade office block, which will have 250 parking bays, is in easy walking distance of many of Century City’s superb facilities including the Canal Walk shopping centre and the new Virgin Active Health Club across the road.

Meanwhile the luxury apartments, which will be completed in early 2010, offer purchasers a wide range of options from furnished studio apartments ideal for travelling business executives and two and three bedroom apartments and penthouses for those looking to buy into an exceptional lifestyle. These suites can be serviced by the hotel if required.
