Leading women’s networking forum in the Western Cape, the Businesswomen’s Association (BWA), recently announced the three winners that took home top honours at this year’s prestigious annual BWA Regional Business Achiever Awards, held this month at the Table Bay Hotel in Cape Town
The winners, announced by a distinguished panel of judges that included television and radio presenter Saskia Falken and the Director of Executive Education at the UCT Graduate School of Business, Elaine Rumboll, included Karen Harrison, the sole proprietor of Indego Consultancy, a company that provides specialist consultancy services in economic development, community development, local government, inter-governmental relations, service delivery alternatives and governance. She was recognised for her work in the social entrepreneur category.
Other winners on the night were Michelle Pieterson, owner and manager of the Lofted Homestay, a B&B in Paarl whose target market is local tourists – who was awarded the top honour in the emerging entrepreneurs category, and lastly, the winner in the established entrepreneur category was Rowena Hay, founder and director of hydro-geological applications consultancy, Umvoto Africa.
"Businesswomen deserve to be recognised and showcased for their extraordinary achievements,” said BWA National Vice-President Ferose Oaten. “The three winners truly deserved their accolades and I feel positive they will continue to inspire other businesswomen around South Africa.”
