MANUFACTURING: KMG Now Acquires Aluminium City
Recent Western Cape Business News
THE Kulungile Metals Group has acquired Hulamin Engineering Solutions, formerly known as Aluminium City.
The takeover of the business from Hulamin as a going concern will increase KMG’s South African footprint with additional outlets in Linbro Park, Johannesburg and Durban city centre.
KMG has over the years established itself as one of South Africa’s largest suppliers of steel, stainless steel and aluminium.
“The purchase of Hulamin Engineering Solutions will expand KMG’s capacity to better serve its existing clients” says CEO Sampie van Rooyen. Established in 2001, the group’s success is built on the natural fit between the operations of Baldwins Steel and Stalcor. “Our product offering to existing clients will also improve with the availability of light commercial aluminium vehicle body kits, as well as aluminium signage products” says van Rooyen.
KMG supply, distribute and adds value to steel, stainless steel and aluminium in the form of sheet, plate and coil, as well as structural and other long product profiles.
The acquisition is subject to approval from the Competition Commission.
