SOUTH AFRICA'S best-selling weekend newspaper the Sunday Times has launched Money - a new personal finance section which appears every weekend in Business Times. Money is edited by Laura du Preez, who joined the Tiso Blackstar Group in May this year. She was formerly editor of Independent Media’s Personal Finance publications.
“We’re excited to be bolstering the reputation of our business titles with personal finance content from Money. Under Laura’s editorial leadership, Money is set to become the new go-to place for anyone seeking personal financial advice on any topic, at any time,” says Andy Gill, Managing Director of Media for Tiso Blackstar Group.
With more than 262,000 copies of the Sunday Times sold each weekend, Money is able to reach a very wide audience with content presented in plain jargon-free language. Readers can look forward to content that unpacks consumer issues related to banking; retirement planning; saving and investing; life and disability cover; healthcare financing; asset financing; estate planning; managing debt; financial planning; short term insurance; property and tax.
Having joined Tiso Blackstar Group to cover personal finance issues after 20 years with Independent Media, Du Preez has developed a trusted reputation amongst consumers, and achieved respect from industry professionals alike. As a member of the Financial Planning Institute, she holds the Certified Financial Planner designation. She also contributes to two financial planning textbooks published by Lexis Nexis.
Du Preez believes the value of Money lies in unpacking complicated personal financial issues and presenting them in a simple and accessible way for the benefit of readers. Du Preez’s editorial team includes Senior Writer, Angelique Ardé, also a former journalist with Independent Media’s Personal Finance publications. Other contributors will include senior Tiso Blackstar writers with experience in the consumer and investment fields.
Peter Roos has also joined Tiso Blackstar as the Business Manager for Money.
While Money is published in Business Times at the moment, Laura and the Money team will be delivering personal finance content to our other titles including Sowetan, Business Day, Financial Mail, as well as BusinessLIVE in the near future.
