Some of the most exclusive real estate in the country – Cape Town’s Atlantic Seaboard – will shortly have a new addition to the portfolio with the launch of The Cosmopolitan residential development.

One of the long-established Signatura Group’s most prestigious projects, The Cosmopolitan, will be located just over 200 metres from Queen’s Beach. Opposite King’s Road at the terminus of Regent Road, it will rise on the cusp between Bantry Bay and Sea Point.

Including three magnificent penthouses, 35 apartments will be located on the top six floors of the nine-storey building. Units will range from 42m² bachelor units to the largest 187m² penthouse, with prices starting at R2,5 million.

Sea Point has a long-established reputation for excellent food. Welcoming family-owned Mediterranean restaurants are now complemented by cutting-edge eateries bringing enticing international flavours, from tapas-style authentic Southern Indian cuisine, to tasty Latin American-inspired tacos.

Signatura is collaborating with Fabian Architects and Make Studios on The Cosmopolitan. Their architecture and interior design responds to the desirable location by creating inward space around a light well, plus outward space to the city and the sun, said Fabian Architects and Make Studio partner Andries Samuel. This will maximise both interior living space and views from the apartments, with balconies looking out to the sea and sunsets.

“The building is designed in a classic, but contemporary style. This is in keeping with the generally Art Deco and Modern flavours of the buildings of the neighbourhood, but also suits the complex expression needed for an urban site.

“The materials will reflect the complexity found in the building and the site. They are simple and robust because they will be combined and recombined throughout the building in a striking way. This allows great diversity from a simple palette.”

The penthouses will have access to private roof terraces via a showcase stairway.

Lines of plant boxes will accentuate the façade and greenery will soften the roof edges. The naturally ventilated parking floors will also have spaces for scooters and bicycles, so that residents can make the most of the surrounding streets and mountain slopes.
