Recent Western Cape Business News
FOLLOWING its successful venture with Umgeni Water at the Ngcebo bulk water supply scheme and various other water projects in Gauteng and Mpumalanga, Robor Pipe Systems offers its diversified products and value added services to the Western Cape.
Robor Pipe Systems supplies both coated and uncoated steel pipe, innovative jointing systems and all pipeline accessories such as fittings, flanges and couplings for the successful installation of the designed water pipeline .
“As part of its complete piping solution for water, we offer a size range of 25NB to 1500NB and pride ourselves with in house flange, couplings, automated welding, coatings and linings facilities, backed up by a strong R & D department” says Gavin Fait, divisional sales director of Robor Pipe Systems.
The Robor Klambon piping system is widely recognised as the most efficient pipe line system available.
Its advantages include versatility to changing work requirements, positive sealing under pressure, permissible deflection at joints of up to 1½° from centre line, and compared with traditional systems, the Klambon system offers the benefit of a set-up that is four times faster than traditional methods of installation.
The company utilises corrosion protection, abrasion and cathodic protection, as well as additional products that add a longer lifespan and functionality to pipelines such as the TOSA range:
TOSAwrap is a duplex system offering cost effective, high impact and penetration resistant corrosion resistance to buried steel pipelines. TOSAguard is a composite triplex coating system that provides a fire retardant, corrosion protected, waterproof solution to above ground pipelines placed on bridges, tunnels and through culverts.
TOSAtape is a laminated polyethylene tape that has a well established reputation to offer superior mechanical and electrical properties coupled with long term protection against cathodic disbondment to buried steel pipelines.
Another Robor protection offering are an epoxy coating suite of products, that can be applied to new and existing pipelines needing rehabilitation.
The coating has no volatile organic carbons, making it safe and environmentally friendly for potable water.
“The pipe systems division of Robor operates within the requirements of the DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 quality management systems to control over 5000 tons of stock and to ensure consistent product quality and service.”
“With its BBBEE contribution level 5 as well as ISO14001 environmental approval, it is evident that Robor Pipe Systems is well geared to provide an all round superior service and water conveyance pipe solution to contractors, local and provincial authorities,” says Fait.
The company also has various solutions for abrasive and erosive water challenges such as coarse mine water, as well as hydrotransport pipelines, solved with its Steel Polypipe product.
