MATERIALS HANDLING: Manhand Off To A Good Start

Recent Western Cape Business News

AFTER serving customers from its Johannesburg base for more than 40 years, materials handling and lifting specialist Manhand has opened a new showroom and service centre in Cape Town.

Regional manager Christelle Nel says there was no better time to show their Western, Eastern and Northern Cape customers that Manhand means business. “The downturn has focused everyone’s attention on getting more for their money and cost-effective performance is the space we compete in best.”

Manhand, based in Montague Gardens, distributes a broad range of imported moving and lifting equipment – from pallet trucks and stackers, to reach trucks and forklifts – all of which deliver robust, quality performance at value-for-money prices.

That’s obviously the first objective. But we’re just as focused on assisting our commercial, retail and industrial customers to select the optimum machine for their application, so they get the maximum productivity in their factory, warehouse or other workplace facility with the minimum down-time,” Nel says.

It’s all about service at Manhand: With 40 years experience and expertise, we know the challenges involved in moving and lifting, and thrive on sharing our insights to help customers find the right solutions.”

Whether the job at hand is lifting, stacking, loading or storing – and whether the power preference is diesel, electric or hybrid – Manhand has various options for moving and lifting loads up to 40 tonnes,” says Christelle Nel. Then, once they’ve helped customers identify the ideal machine for the specific environment, the task turns to ensuring it delivers maximum up-time.

Cost-effective performance isn’t just about the price-tag. It’s about upkeep costs over the product’s life – and keeping it well maintained, with OEM parts, so it operates reliably for as long as possible,” she says.

Customers appreciate the opportunity to drop into our showroom and see the wide selection of products on the floor demonstrated before they make their purchase decision– and the convenient access to our service and repair workshop”. Both are reflected in the early success the business has enjoyed,” Nel says.
