ENGINEERING: Shoprite Checkers Chooses Fang
Recent Western Cape Business News
AFTER being of service to the Shoprite Checkers Group for the last 12 years, Fang Fences and Guards has been awarded contracts to secure their distribution centres in Cape Town, Centurion and Durban with its unique combi-mesh fencing systems.
The contracts also include fully integrated electrification and the Fang centralised security monitoring system, which enables management not only to monitor the electrified fence on a permanent basis, but also to monitor the performance of both the fence and the personnel that have to provide the necessary reaction to events.
“We are proud to be associated with one of the most successful retail organisations in South Africa and that they have chosen us to fulfil this very important function. Not only are we installing the initial systems, but we will also be responsible for the complete maintenance of all three sites for the next ten years,” says Fang’s John Swart.
“We believe that the reason for choosing Fang Fences and Guards is due to the fact that we operate in a professional manner, providing a high standard of quality work with well-trained staff, not only in the construction arena, but also in the technical, electronic and IT fields. Regular meetings are held with clients, keeping them abreast of the progress on each site without them having to provide continuous supervision,” Swart says.
The Cape Town project required the removal of the old perimeter fencing system installed in 1997 and replacing it with a new aesthetic appearing high security system completed in November 2011. Work on the Centurion Depot commenced in May 2011 and due to the increase in scope, will be completed in March this year. The Durban contract will commence shortly with completion in September 2012.
