Guinness Original in its 660ml brown glass bottle format is the first of many new brandhouse innovations lined-up in months to come. Guinness Original is brewed to international standards at the world class Sedibeng brewery in Gauteng.
“We are confident that this will be a true leader in our mainstream beer portfolio. As part of our innovation agenda, this launch is a top priority for brandhouse and with its 250 years of history, it is now time for Guinness in South Africa to add a new chapter to the book,” says Gerald Mahinda, brandhouse managing director.
The quality of Original comes from the barley being roasted which locks in the flavour and gives it a refreshing crisp, bold taste and distinctive colour and aroma, says Mahindra.
Guinness is an iconic global brand known for its quality, with 10 million glasses being consumed every day in 150 countries and the African continent accounting for more than one third of all Guinness produced worldwide.
“With 80% of the South African beer market drinking mainstream beer, there is a big opportunity for a new accessible premium beer, which is exactly what we are offering with Guinness,” says Gavin Krenski, marketing and innovation director at brandhouse.
Other upcoming innovations from brandhouse include Smirnoff Vodka and real fruit juice mixers (1.5L bag in box format including Ruby Orange and Cranberry variants), the relaunch of Smirnoff Ice and Smirnoff Spin in a can.
Guinness Original is available at taverns and leading bottle stores throughout South Africa at an RSP of R10 for a 660ml returnable bottle.
brandhouse’s beer portfolio includes two other well-known brands Amstel and Heineken, as well as the Windhoek trademark brands.
