MANUFACTURING: GRW Expands Product Range

A NEW line of refrigerated semi-trailers will soon usher in a new era for Worcester-based GRW Engineering, after 15 years of concentrating on the manufacture of road tankers for the transport industry.
While GRW is currently known as Southern Africa’s leading road tanker manufacturer, with rail tankers being a recent addition to the product range, the company will soon start supplying its customers with refrigerated semi-trailers of the same high quality standards on which GRW has built its outstanding reputation in the transport industry.
GRW has entered into an agreement with China International Marine Containers (CMIC) for the supply of high quality polyurethane-injected insulation panels, which will be used in combination with other components and mechanical gear for the assembly of the semi- trailers. Assembly will take place in the state-of-the-art facilities in Worcester under the guidance of GRW’s experienced engineers and technicians.
GRW is the only South African tanker manufacturer to build products adhering to the complete set of European ADR standards, and which is currently the preferred fuel tanker supplier locally and in the United Kingdom.
According to Fanie Roux, CIMC product executive for GRW, the first imported insulation components are expected to arrive in South Africa early this month, when assembly of the semi-trailers will commence.
“We have seen an opportunity for the supply of high quality refrigerated trailers in the Southern African market,” says Roux. “After market research locally, as well as in the USA and Europe, we have made the decision that we will only enter this market if we can supply refrigerated trailers and rigid bodies that adhere to the same quality standards offered overseas.”
“Longevity, payload and insulation properties are extremely important in this environment, and we are convinced that the product that we offer will exceed expectations in that regard,” says Roux.
The GRW service branches in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Worcester and Paarl will provide after-sales and support services.
