The Workshops will be split into three legs, the first leg being in China from 3-5 June 2011, the second in Korea from 6-7 June 2011 and the third in Japan from 8-10 June 2011.
Cape Town Routes Unlimited’s aim at these workshops is to promote Cape Town and the Western Cape as the destination of choice to local tour operators. The organisation’s CEO is currently en route to China: “The Far East Asia is a lucrative market for the Cape Town and Western Cape tourism industry. Tourists in this market tend to travel during our ‘low season’, which is from May to September and generally travel in groups. Last year, the country recorded a 47.4% increase in visitors from China, Korea and Japan, translating into 113 375 visitors. This can in part be attributed to the 2010 FIFA World Cup™, which created top of mind awareness of the destination.”
CTRU’s participation in last year’s workshops resulted in a number of marketing opportunities, which included VISA utilising Cape Town and Western Cape itineraries as part of their promotion with C-Trip the biggest wholesale agent in China; i- CABLE Entertainment Limited in Korea filmed a documentary promoting various Cape routes and the Japan based agency, SOUTHERN AFRICA AGENCY JAPAN INC, featured some of Cape Town and the Western Cape’s landmarks on their network.
