FINANCE: Medi-Clinic Maintains Growth

Stellenbosch: Medi-Clinic maintained its consistent growth pattern in the year to 31 March 2011, with a 27% increase in core headline earnings and another solid performance in its South African and international operations.
Medi-Clinic operates private hospitals in South Africa, Namibia, Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates.
Group revenue increased by 9% to R18 625m (2010:R17 141m) and core EBITDA was 10% higher at R4 103m (2010:R3 736m).
Core headline earnings rose by 27% to R1 082m (2010: R852m) and core basic headline earnings per ordinary share increased by 20% to 179.6 cents (2010:149.9 cents). Core figures exclude one-off items.
“This was a solid all round performance in all three of the geographic areas in which we operate hospitals,’ said Dr Edwin Hertzog, Medi-Clinic Chairman.
