MARKETING: Markex Moving To The Cape
Recent Western Cape Business News
Markex, the marketing, promotions and special events exhibition, will be returning to Cape Town in August for the first time since 2008, bringing innovation in all fields of marketing to the Cape.
The exhibition, which was first held in Cape Town in 2005, is one of the most well-established trade shows in South Africa, with a 25 year history of connecting buyers and sellers of promotional gifts, corporate clothing, branding, eventing products and services, and much more under one roof.
Markex World of Events 2011 will take place at Cape Town International Convention Centre from Tuesday 23 to Thursday 25 August 2011. “The show attracted over 3 500 visitors in 2008, with the vast majority indicating that they had direct purchasing authority. The visitor profile is extremely targeted, as marketing of the show is restricted to the trade, and the public is discouraged from attending by means of a R30 entrance fee,” says Lynn Chamier, Exhibition Director of Markex World of Events.
Unique drawcards are designed to attract both end users and resellers to the show. The AdVantage Advertising Village is a vibrant, interactive area in which Cape Town’s leading agencies will have the opportunity to showcase their creative talents and services, with an adjacent wine bar providing the ideal platform for networking.
New to the show in 2011 is the addition of a ‘Trade Only’ section, which provides wholesalers with a more exclusive environment in which to connect with resellers of promotional goods and corporate clothing. Only bona fide trade buyers are allowed access into this area, and have to be pre-qualified by either one of the trade only exhibitors or the organisers. “This area was created in response to a call from wholesalers who did not want to target end users, and resellers who prefer not to have the end user exposed to the wholesaler. This environment provides the best of both worlds for everyone,” continues Chamier.
Markex World of Events is endorsed by the Marketing Association of South Africa (MASA) and the Direct Marketing Association of SA (DMASA).
