ENGINEERING: AMS Reports Good Demand For Bridon
Recent Western Cape Business News
AFRICAN Maritime Services represents Bridon (UK) locally and reports keen demand for Bridon’s steel wire rope (SWR).
The company is one of the only European manufacturers who produce their SWR from ‘rod to rope’, the rods or steel billets are purchased directly from steel manufacturer Corus in the UK and in turn put through Bridons stringent manufacturing and quality control processes to produce a finished product second to none in the industry.
AMS reports particular interest in Bridon’s Dyform Starfish SWR IWRC consisting of a steel core coated in a protective plastic polymer before pre Dyformed outer wire strands are applied to form the finished rope, a product of Bridons ongoing research and development program.
Dyform Starfish not only ensures that as much of the wire is in contact with sheaves, blocks and winches as is possible therefore allowing for an even wear but also by adding the plastic covered core Dyform Starfish can promote better steel core protection extending the life of the rope in service. Bridon also manufactures Dyform without the starfish core and the popular Marblue range of trawl warps.
Earlier in the year AMS reported that the anti-dumping duties imposed on Bridon imports to the SACU region had been lifted, therefore allowing skippers and fishing companies alike the opportunity to once again enjoy the benefits of Bridon’s fishing products.
