Delta Air Lines, voted Cape Town International Airport’s ‘Best International Airline 2008’, will begin flying between Cape Town and Delta’s largest hub at Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport effective 2 June 2009*.
The new flight will replace the airline’s current service to New York, giving customers flying via Atlanta a greater choice of destinations, with access to over 180 onward connections to cities across the U.S., Latin America and the Caribbean, including New York, Washington DC, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Orlando. The Atlanta flight will operate three times weekly via Dakar, Senegal.
Margaret Copeland, commercial manager – South Africa for Delta said: “We are excited to offer the first scheduled flight between Cape Town, the commercial hub of the Western Cape, and Atlanta, the commercial hub of the Southeastern United States. Since launching our Cape Town service over 35, 000 passengers have already flown on Delta to the United States and beyond. Linking Cape Town with our Atlanta gateway has the additional benefit of offering an even greater choice of destinations for customers travelling for business and pleasure.”
The airline was recently awarded ‘Best International Airline’ at the prestigious Feather Awards 2008, hosted by Airports Company of South Africa, Cape Town International Airport. Speaking about the award, Rogere Mazzolini, Delta’s station manager at Cape Town International Airport said: “There’s no better way to celebrate a successful first six months’ flying from Cape Town than by being recognized by our customers. We are very proud to have won the Feather Award, which is a credit to the many individuals who work hard to ensure Delta provides its Cape Town customers with a seamless travel experience, while executing a safe and efficient airport operation.”
