INFOTECH: Bandwidth Barn Partner On New Venture
Recent Western Cape Business News
The ISETT SETA and the Bandwidth Barn are joining forces to address the growing demand for ICT skills, particularly among previously disadvantaged communities.
The ISETT Seta recently appointed leading Cape Town ICT business incubator, the Bandwidth Barn, to roll out a New Venture Creation project aimed at bridging this skills gap.
The New Venture Creation (or NVC) project targets previously disadvantaged individuals who already have some kind of tertiary qualification in ICT, but are in need of essential business skills. The programme, which kicked off in June and will continue until March 2011, covers everything from marketing to finance to production, to business strategy and more. The objective is to provide candidates with a good grounding in business, something often overlooked in technical courses.
Each of the 11 business-centric modules comprises lectures and practical written assignments. The course culminates in a final exam. Successful candidates will be awarded an NQF Level 4 qualification and be able to leverage their new skills to advance up the corporate ladder or alternatively strike out on their own.
