The UCT Graduate School of Business was recently named a winner at the eighth annual African Access National Business Awards (AANBA). The GSB scooped top honours in the Business Education and Training category.
The African Access National Business Awards, announced in the SA’s Top Performing Companies publication in association with Topco Media, acknowledge South Africa’s industry leaders. This year the awards were honoured by the presence of First Lady, Madame Tobeka Madiba Zuma.
“The calibre of these awards and the winners goes from strength to strength. It stands testimony to the success and quality of business and business people in South Africa today,” she said.
In the Business Education and Training category, the business schools were judged based on the number and standard of graduates produced, the reputation of the school and the overall contribution to skills development.
Director of the GSB, Professor Walter Baets, commented that the UCT GSB was up against three competitors in this category so the School is indeed excited and pleased by the outcome.
“This Award once again highlights the positive contribution the school is making to the world of business and to the economy of South Africa,” he said.
Cherry Burchell, the Marketing Manager at the GSB, added that it has been an excellent year so far for the business school when taking into account the accolades the School has achieved.
The GSB was also recently honoured with a Superbrands seal, recognising it as one of the top brands in South Africa.
