VENTURES: Business Networking Now Easier
Recent Western Cape Business News
Businesses and entrepreneurs wishing to conduct business in Cape Town will have access to a powerful new facility when the Connect’d Cape Town office opens at the CTICC. Connect’d Cape Town is an initiative aimed at showcasing local skills and expertise as well as attracting and facilitating significant investment and business opportunities to the Cape Town region.
Guy Lundy, CEO of Accelerate Cape Town, the business think tank that initiated Connect’d Cape Town, says: “The new office is open in time for the top-level delegates that will be attending the Global Forum as well as all the World Cup visitors. We have been involved in the local programme for the Global Forum, and - through Connect’d Cape Town – have set up a programme of International Business Networking Breakfasts. This means that we are perfectly positioned to act as an interface between local and visiting businesspeople and the high-profile delegates of the Global Forum.”
According to Rashid Toefy, CEO of the CTICC, the centre is excited about this business initiative. As a key driver of economic growth in the province, the CTICC is committed to positioning Cape Town as a leading international business destination. “The CTICC is a global meeting place where people from all walks of life are brought together, and Connect’d Cape Town is a further platform for local and international businesses to engage with each other,” he added.
The new office will become the main single connection facility between visitors and all business organisations in the Cape, as it is supported by Wesgro, the Cape Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Cape Town Partnership, Cape Town Tourism and Accelerate Cape Town and its member organisations.
Lundy says this is a truly unique initiative in South Africa for its sheer scope and potential for connecting local and visiting businesspeople. “Cape Town is in the singular position of being the only city in South Africa where government and big business are working together on a business networking initiative. The Connect’d Cape Town Business Breakfasts are the only joint initiative endorsed by big business, the City and provincial government anywhere in South Africa over the World Cup period.”
Situated on the ground floor of the CTICC, next to the Bureau de Change, the Connect’d Cape Town office is positioned to ensure that it will enjoy maximum visitor traffic. The new office will enable Connect’d Cape Town website members to arrange meetings in a secure, central location and to meet potential investors and business partners.
