BUILDING: New Requirement For Green Star Offices

As part of the ongoing review and improvement of the Green Star SA rating tools, the Green Building Council of South Africa has undertaken a process over the past 9 months to review the Eco Conditional Requirement contained within the Green Star SA – Office v1 tool.
Following this review and public feedback period, on the 15th of April 2010 the Green Building Council of South Africa released a revised version of the Eco Conditional Requirement for Green Star SA Office v1. This aligns the Eco Conditional Requirement for the Green Star SA Office v1 rating tool with that contained in the new Green Star SA Retail Centre v1 rating tool (launched 15th April 2010).
The revised document supersedes and replaces the Eco Conditional Requirement currently contained in the Green Star SA Office v1 Technical Manual and can be downloaded from our website on the Green Star SA - Office v1 page. Further information in the form of responses to public feedback can also be downloaded from this page.
Note that projects registered after 15 April, 2010 must use the revised Eco Conditional Requirement. Projects registered on or prior to 15 April, 2010 may choose whether to use the original conditional requirement or the revised version.
The conditional requirements within all Green Star SA rating tools are to ensure that key environmental protection is achieved and minimum energy performance standards are met. The Conditional Requirements are compulsory pre-requisites for those registered projects seeking certified Green Star SA ratings from the Green Building Council of South Africa.
