CALL CENTRES: BPeSA W Cape Creates 310 Jobs

Recent Western Cape Business News

BPeSA Western Cape has launched a new Skills Development Learnership Programme which has created 310 jobs for the call centre industry this year. The programme follows on from the highly successful CADET Learnership.

Host companies include: Kelly, Sell Direct, Direct Axis, MBD, G326, WFS, Nimble Group, ADT and Quest.

Previously we offered generic training, but after careful analysis and discussion with our partner companies, we are now offering targeted training whereby students are trained to work in a specific call centre department,” says Noha Essop Talent Development Project Manager at BPeSA Western Cape.

What this means for our learners is that as soon as they qualify they will be ready to work in the field they have been trained in, so learners working in debt collection for example will be able to adapt to virtually any company focused on debt collection,” adds Essop.

Essop believes that the success of the programme is based on the quality of its learners.

Nimble became involved in the learnership programme because we believe in the programme. Our belief has been stimulated by the quality of the programme as a whole, the passion of its management team and the benefits it not only provides to the Learners themselves but the BPO / call centre industry as a whole, both of which benefit from the skills development,” says Tarryn Clarke-Mcleod HR Manager Nimble Group.

The private sector has a responsibility to contribute to these programmes as they provide learning and employment opportunities to the previously unemployable and disadvantaged, ultimately creating a larger skilled candidate pool to recruit from, thereby aiding the economic development of our country,” adds Clarke-Mcleod.

The call centre industry is an amazing place to work and we as BPeSA Western Cape will continue to do all in our power to promote the growth and development of this sector in 2010,” says Fagri Semaar interim CEO of BPeSA Western Cape.
