Recent Western Cape Business News
11 properties worth more than R38 million sold within just seven weeks – this was just one of the massive records that sealed a highly successful last quarter of 2009 for Seeff City Bowl, one of the Group's top performer's in 2009.
According to Michael Hauser, property consultant for the German Division within Seeff City Bowl, Atlantic Seaboard and CBD, keeping a finger on the pulse of even the smallest changes within the property sector as the economy began to inch its way out of recession paid significant dividends towards the end of 2009. As a result, Seeff City Bowl, Atlantic Seaboard and CBD was one of the property giant’s top performers.
Hauser said a cursory glance at statistics comparing the franchise’s performance in October and November 2009 against its achievements during the same months the previous year was extremely enlightening.
"The total number of properties sold in November/December 2009 was 24 versus 15 during the previous year. The total rand value of these properties shot up from R62 million in 2008 to more than R88 million in 2009. Whereas in 2008, properties sold for an average 12 percent less than the asking price, this had decreased to 8 percent by the end of last year."
Hauser and partners Doris Ricketts and Anke Menelaou’s achievements over the past few weeks include nine offers within just 7 days for a property in Highlands Estate which sold at 3.5 percent above asking price, two offers within 5 days for a property in Gardens and two offers within 3 days in Vredehoek.
Together, these sales exceeded R 11,5 million.
