THERMADYNE Plant Rental SA is a well-established business that has a reputation as Southern Africa’s force in the rental of welding and construction related equipment. In the Western Cape it has a significant presence in the ship repair industry in the Cape Town and Saldanha docks. The Mossel Bay offices has been contracted to handle Petro SA’s shutdown and supply all the equipment needed for that process. They have also successfully completed the supply to SAPREF and Engen Refinery in Durban during their scheduled shutdowns in July and August.
In February this year, Thermadyne Plant Rental changed its name to Renttech South Africa. Whereas previously the company’s main focus was on the rental of welding and construction related equipment, the positioning has shifted to focus on a combination of rental and sales.
Renttech South Africa, MD Gerrit van Zyl says that this change in direction will significantly entrench and enhance the company’s ability to supply state-of-the-art plant and equipment to the construction sector throughout the region, including the Western Cape.
The company will play a major role in supplying welding and construction related equipment which will be required in April next year for the shutdown on the Chevron Refinery in Cape Town.
The primary work area in Johannesburg covers in excess of 8 500sq m and, in addition to this, Renttech South Africa has 11 offices across Southern Africa. The fleet is currently in excess of 3 500 machines welding invertors ranging from 300 and 1200 AMP. Generator sets ranging from 30 – 500 kva in excess of 650 units, covering all welding processes from MMA, TIG, MIG and SMAW. Included in the fleet is the new edition diesel driven super silent Rotair compressors from Europe ranging from 200 - 650 CFM.
A leading construction equipment importer and supplier, Renttech SA attained a significant achievement last month when it was appointed as the distributor in Southern Africa for ESAB welding products as well as for Weldcraft, world leader in TIG welding equipment.
Renttech’s new status as a major distributor of ESAB welding products in Southern Africa puts the company at the forefront of welding suppliers. Van Zyl elaborates, “ESAB is one of the world’s leading suppliers of welding consumables and its range includes covered electrodes, cored and solid wires, TIG rods and strips and fluxes.”
Van Zyl says Renttech South Africa has, furthermore, added to its large range of protective equipment for construction sites to include products such as ear plugs, face shields – fitted to hard hat from PVC and PC – and welding helmets. The company also supplies gloves, safety specs, dust masks, reflector vests and safety boots with steel inner soles.
